Small Wedding Venues in Maine: Options and Booking Questions
A small guest list does not always mean a small venue bill. Before comparing photographs, ask whether the booking is for a ceremony, a meal, or exclusive use of an estate for several nights. Those are very different arrangements.
Venues to compare
- Wolf Cove Inn, Poland describes elopements and intimate weddings beside Tripp Lake. Ask for the current package and guest limit, and check which services it includes.
- Tops’l Farm offers a weekday small-wedding stay for up to 34 people. Its published arrangement includes two nights on the property, with guests booking their accommodation directly. Check the current terms before inviting overnight guests.
- Hardy Farm, Fryeburg has a barn, woodland chapel and accommodation. Its site lists weekday small and micro-wedding options as well as full wedding weekends; ask which dates and spaces fit your group.
- Grey Havens Inn, Georgetown offers weddings at an oceanfront inn. Discuss the indoor plan, dinner arrangements and any room-booking requirement for your headcount.
- French’s Point, Stockton Springs is an estate for a private wedding stay, with several event spaces. Compare its reservation term and lodging commitment with a smaller inn package, even if you only need a small dinner.
Lighthouse ceremonies and older venue lists
At Fort Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth, ceremonies use designated park locations. Weddings are not permitted on the Portland Head Light parcel itself. The park’s ceremony information explains reservations, group-size rules and the application. A ceremony reservation should not be mistaken for a reception venue or private use of the whole park.
Two recommendations in the earlier version of this page needed correction. Blaine House’s event policy does not make it available for private individual celebrations. Point Lookout now describes a cabin property with changed facilities; the former large wedding and conference operation is gone. Ask about a specific current gathering space instead of relying on old resort wedding photographs.
Questions worth asking before booking
- What is included for our exact guest count, and is there a minimum spend?
- Which rooms or buildings must we book, and for how many nights?
- Where does the ceremony and meal move in bad weather?
- Are catering, parking, accessible routes and toilets suitable for everyone attending?
- What happens if the event date changes?
The earlier list also counted “Barn at Walnut Hill” and “Barn on Walnut Hill” separately. Treat those as a duplicate reference, not two venues to compare. Published capacities and packages can change; confirm the current proposal directly with the venue.
